Traffic Surrender
Without warning and I might add no precipitation, Tuesday was the tipping point for me. My daily commute from Hanson to Waltham can be challenging. Tuesday’s commute was a near record 2 hours 23 minutes door-to-door! My only recollection of a longer commute goes back a few years when I lived up in Newmarket, NH and commuted to Waltham – one snow storm I spent over 3 hours on 128!
I’ve adjusted my commuting hours so I’m leaving an hour early on both ends. My “pilot” test yesterday was a success. The commute was a bearable 55 minutes inbound and outbound. In full disclosure I also take different route to/from my office. My commute in the morning starts with back roads through Whitman-Abington-Holbrook-Randolph to route 24 onto 128 the rest of the way. On return, I take 128 south to route 3 south exiting to back roads depending on traffic volume.
Friday’s commute home should bear foreshadowing for the summer commuting season. With the weekend’s forecast 90’s and Sunshine, I’m guessing a mass exodus. I’m sure I’ll abandon route 3 early or all together taking back roads through Braintree.
